Hongmei's husband encouraged her to pursue her scientific career abroad. She traveled from China to US on her own and participated in the vitamin K project. Several mimic molecules were designed to probe the interactions with the protein machinery. While performing the test in the lab, she attempted to protect her unborn baby from the potential hazard of the ultrasound generated from a device.

Clip 11: How long does it take before it works?  漫漫長路
For months, the positive response in the test tube has not been reproducible. Finally, Jackie identified the new molecule that induced the positive result with consistency. The next stage of the project, though, turned out to be even more challenging.
"How could this be possible?", cried Jackie.

"My goodness! What is this?"
As the data were calculated and output from the computer screen, Wicky could not believe her eyes. It had been too long for her to keep the faith that she could ever get there. For the first time, the molecular picture of the protein is constructed without any ambiguity.
"What a beauty", sighed Wicky. Only if anyone else was around to witness it too.

Clip 42: What does everyone want from me! 多頭馬車
With the approaching deadline, Patrick checked with the lab assistant the second time of the day, 'Can we have the results by Wednesday?' 

'When are you coming home?' rang the phone with the frustrating voice of Heather. 

'Heather you don't understand...' again Patrick trying to explain. 

'Stop saying that I don't understand!' cried Heather.

眼看期限就要到了, Patrick不得不再次詢問實驗助理: 我們能在禮拜三之前交出來嗎? 

電話裡傳來Heather掩不住失望憤怒的聲音: "你哪時候才能回家?"

"聽我說Heather, 你不懂..."

"不要總說我不懂!" Heather叫道。
